||Character Info:||
Name: Rose Tyler
Fandom: Doctor Who
Birthdate: September 22nd
Age: 21
Physical Appearance: Rose is slender, tall and athletic. Her hair is blonde and reaches past her shoulders, worn most often in a straight and sleek style which is sometimes secured with a clip in part. Her eyes are blue, her skin is pale, and her choice of attire is casual and comfortable. She prefers to wear jeans and any kind of top as opposed to anything more loose fitting and compliments the simplicity of those outfits with a jacket if the weather permits. Before traveling with the Doctor, Rose cared more for fashion but now dresses for comfort and mobility.
Occupation: In the parallel world (Pete's World) Rose works for Torchwood, where she is in charge of monitoring alien activity.
Significant Other: The Tenth Doctor for all intents and purposes, though their "relationship" is complicated. She's in love with him and would do anything for him, and there hasn't been anyone else in her life since she was forced away from him.
Sexual Preference: Straight

||Character Bio:||
Backstory/History:

Rose's life changed when she met the Doctor, who was capable of showing her places and things beyond any of which she could imagine. She traveled with him through time and space as his companion, leaving behind the world that she knew and taking up a new life which she embraced fully. Her attachment to the Doctor grew not only from the time they spent together but from a bond that was more deeply rooted than she was aware of at the time.

At Canary Wharf, the Daleks and Cybermen invaded Rose's universe and in an attempt to save her life the Doctor sent her to a parallel world where she could remain safely with her family and loved ones. Rose fought against him on this, refusing to be separated from the Doctor even though the risk to her own life was great. In spite of her strong resilience, Rose was nearly lost in the void between the two worlds and was saved by her father in a desperate, last minute effort, which took her to the parallel world and consequently away from the Doctor forever. Their separation was devastating to her and Rose was given one last chance to say good bye to the Doctor on the cold shores of Norway, where he burned up a sun to speak to her one last time.

When the space between the worlds closed, Rose attempted to settle into a new life but could not let go of the Doctor and everything that he had been to her. Facilities began developing in her universe to track the presence and behaviors of alien activity and Rose began to involve herself in these things, putting to use her knowledge of what she had seen with the Doctor in a way that would be beneficial. At every chance she had, she continued to look for a way to cross back through the parallel universe to the one which had been her home, to find the Doctor again, against impossible and dangerous odds.

After impossible trials and errors, a machine to cross between the worlds was constructed with an impending danger to all of existance looming on the horizon, and Rose took up the task of crossing between the worlds to find the Doctor not only for her own reasons, but to warn him that the stars were going out, that a greater danger was in place. Their reunion resulted in a vicious battle against Davros and the Daleks in a control for all universes in existence and the creation of a human form of the Doctor, who was sent back with Rose to her parallel universe.

Personality in seven words or less: Strong willed, spirited, loyal, imaginative, hopeful, compassionate.
How Others Perceive Your Character: Rose would be perceived as, at first sight a bright, intelligent young woman with an insistent hope nothing is impossible. She cares about everyone that she comes in contact with at first and it takes significant force to earn her distrust. Rose is the sort of person someone would want on their side, and would be displeased with the recourses of crossing negative paths with.
How they came to Canada: Rose comes to Canada through a fluke of her own universe. With Torchwood growing in power and capability the desire to explore greater possibilities outside of their own universe also increases and brings about further study of alien technology. While her relationship with the human Doctor continues to grow, Rose notices some strange happenings in his behavior and does her best to think nothing of them other than his adjusting to their life together in this universe. When a breach in the rift opens up due to misuse of newfound alien technology, Rose crosses through the breach to contain the damage on the other side before it can be sealed again. Instead of this happening successfully the breach is too weak to sustain anything more than her one trip through, and she finds herself in Canada.

||Eleven Questions for the Character:||

(** If you've ever seen the Actor's Studio, then you know what this is! Answer in character.)

1. What turns you on: Romance, the good, old fashioned kind. Flowers, the little touches that go most often unnoticed. Things like that.
2. What turns you off: Egomaniacs, anyone that calls me "little lady." Those are just a couple.
3. What is your favorite word?: Imagination.
4. What is your least favorite word?: "No."
5. What is your favorite curse word?: I wouldn't call any of them my favourite, but I've used them all a bit frequently.
6. What sound or noise do you love?: I like the ocean. Haven't been in ages, but I remember it.
7. What sound or noise do you hate?: Anything crashing. It's harsh and it makes my teeth clench.
8. What profession other than your own, would you like to attempt?: I think I'd do all right at teaching.
9. What profession would you least like to attempt?: Never wanted to be a surgeon.
10. If you could be any ice cream, what flavor would you be?: Strawberry
11. And, finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "That was a fine job, Rose. A very fine job."

||Sample Role Play:||
(We're not asking for a book...we're not even asking you to write anything new, if you don't want to. But we are asking to get some sort of sample. So feel free to write a sample for us, or you can simply link us to a thread you're in, or were previously in at another Insane/LiveJournal roleplay.)

"Warning! Warning! Breach activity! All personnel to their stations for control and containment. Location and coordinates -"

Had the computer screens not been scrolling said coordinates across their glassy surfaces, not an individual in Torchwood's main office would have known where to go. The room erupted unceremoniously into a pattering of heels, squeaking of wheeled chairs, and the shouting of voices, all of which were overpowered by the booming commands of Pete Tyler.

"All right, everyone, that's enough, calm down...containment crew...cars...analysis...location...bay..."

Only parts of what he was saying were audible, but for Rose Tyler that was all she needed to hear. The rift activity was down near the bay, which would be faster to run to on foot as opposed to taking the first available set of keys to the first available personnel car - which would be snugly equipped with tracking and emergency control devices. And if Pete Tyler had any idea where his daughter was going, he'd stop her from the comfort of his own desk. It was one of the reasons Rose had never been permitted to be on an on-sight containment team, because both Pete and Jackie had always worried she might try -

- to do exactly what she was about to do.

There wasn't time for a long, heartfelt note of farewell and apology, so Rose had to settle for a quickly scrawled Mum, Dad, Mickey, I'm sorry. I love you. on the nearest scrap of printout, which she tossed unceremoniously onto her own desk. And then she was running, her heels clattering across the tiled floor, just another sound and presence to be drowned out by more pressing activities and the still hectic moving about of other personnel.

It had been years. Rose had never lost count of exactly how many days, hours and minutes had passed since she last saw the Doctor, but that wasn't something she took a great deal of pride in voicing. The only thing that mattered was her life hadn't been the same since. There had been a great, yawning chasm of emptiness that refused to relent, something that no career - or man, at that - had been able to fill. Torchwood had been a fine place to bury herself, to believe there was a chance, a possibility, anything at all, that someday the impossible would happen and the rift would open up again. Some small gap in time and space that might - might - take her back to the world she had no choice but to leave behind.

Not just the world, but the -

The unspoken, yet wholly encompassing reason was what made her run. Down flights of stairs because elevators were too slow, through security checkpoints she never had to bother with, either, and out a whistling pair of revolving doors. Already she could smell the salted air, feel the wind against her flushed cheeks, and feel the rapid-fire pounding of her own heart.

Gaps in time and space were never pretty. There was no telling where she would end up if she went through, or if she would even land in another place. It was much more likely Rose would pitch herself straight into the void and spend eternity floating about in nothingness. But that was a risk she had come to terms with a long time ago, one that she had decided to take.

With one last look back at Torchwood, at the sharp tower and the memories of her family, she made another silent apology and began to run again. Containment would already be on their way, she could hear the sirens, but she was too close and they'd never be able to stop her.

And with that, she ran and jumped. A roaring, rushing sound screamed in her ears, robbing her senses all momentarily blind, and when the world rushed up to meet her all Rose could think was ..grass..? before her head contacted something hard and all went dark.

||Other/Important Non-canon information:||

Ten's player and I have decided that we're going to take a bit of twist from the DW comics and say that in Rose's universe, human Ten was beginning to act slightly strange. This behavior will be enough for Ten to determine the possibility of human Ten becoming the Valeyard in Rose's universe, though whether or not this will actually happen will be undetermined as they are, of course, nice and cozy in Canada. But other than that, everything is canon!
